Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?
I don’t. I sort of wish I did because I love to travel, but on the other hand, I am painfully shy and would likely have a panic attack if I had to speak to a group of people I didn’t know!
What books have most influenced your life?
As an English major, I read a lot of the classics. I struggle still to leave that behind, because no one wants to read classics anymore. I simplify my writing a lot, but it’s still not simple enough for some people. The most influential book for me is Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises. I know that in romance, there must be a HEA and I try to write those. But his book is realistic and it’s the most beautifully heartbreaking book I have ever read.
What contributes to making a writer successful?
Never giving up. If you write fifty books and none of them sell, write the 51 the one that makes you successful.
Do you have any advice for writers?
• Don’t give up. Keep writing no matter what.
• Ignore the criticism. Remember that your favorite book of all time got one star reviews.
• Editors are helpful, but don’t let them write your story. Trust your instincts.
• Smile. You wrote a book. You actually WROTE an entire book.
What do you do to unwind and relax?
Shoot things in video games. Search the internet for funny pictures of cats. Drink wine.
